Our Community Pottery Classes for Adults - Beginner & Intermediate is aiming to bring the members of the local community together through creativity and art. The classes are for beginners and intermediate students alike and will run in a relaxed and social atmosphere.

These courses are for the local community and individuals living in Barnet, funded by Barnet and Southgate College. The £20 fee covers the location fees for this course.

Please make sure that you can attend all 6 classes and let us know in advance if you would like to withdraw in order to offer your place for other students.

Class description:
- In this 6 week class students will explore the characteristics of clay by making and decorating their own sushi/nibble set, a set of candle holder or soap dish, focusing on a more personal project towards the end of the course.
- During the first part of the course the students will be introduced to the slab rolling technique and decorating the created piece with coloured glazes. During the second half of the course students will develop a personal project.
- All materials, tools necessary and firing are provided at no extra cost.
- We aim for each student to have three finished and functional projects of hand made ceramics by the end of the 6th week.
- The final pieces will be fired and ready to collect within 2-4 weeks. Uncollected objects will be repurposed by the studio if not collected within the given time.

Our Advice

*Please note: long finger nails would stop you from enjoying your time as pottery involves working with the finger tips.
*You may want to wear clothes you don't mind getting messy, however, touch free plastic, single use aprons will be provided and clay comes out of clothes.
*Collect your works no later than 14 days after you have been notified that your pieces have been fired, otherwise we will sadly have to dispose of them.
